Lucy

Lucy’s story begins with love—and it’s still full of it.

Lucy is a beautiful 5½-year-old Weimaraner whose world recently changed in a way no one wanted. Due to severe illness in her family, her people had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender her. This was not a choice made lightly. Lucy has been very loved, and that love shows in everything she does—from the way she leans in for cuddles to how deeply she bonds with the people around her. Her family’s greatest wish is simply that Lucy continues to have the happy, secure life she deserves.
Lucy has spent most of her life with a retired couple who were home often, and she thrived in that calm, connected environment. We’d love to find her a similar home—one where she can be close to her people, soak up affection, and share daily routines. She adores her walks, lives for cuddle time, and truly seems to radiate love wherever she goes.
She’s friendly with other dogs and has been around younger children. Cats are an unknown, but Lucy has very little prey drive, so we suspect she’d likely do just fine. When meeting new people, Lucy gets so excited to love them that she may bark a little in greeting—her enthusiasm sometimes arrives before her manners. She could use a bit of “four on the floor” training, but it’s the kind of thing that comes easily with consistency and smiles.
Lucy is housetrained, does well when left home alone, and is healthy and up to date on all her shots. She’s a big girl at about 90 pounds—strong on leash and maybe carrying a few extra “love pounds”—but she enjoys staying active. She loves running at the dog park and would make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys movement, fresh air, and a loyal shadow by their side.
Lucy is still healing from the sadness of having to leave her people, but her heart is wide open and ready to love again. Are you the happy-ever-after she’s waiting for—the one who helps her turn the page from goodbye to a brand-new beginning?
