Meet Ruger: A Soul Looking for His Shadow

At three years old, this stunning 75-pound silver shadow is the embodiment a Weim—intelligence, athleticism, and a "velcro" personality that means he wants to be part of your everyday life. Ruger is looking for more than just a backyard also a teammate who understands his big heart. He is being returned to rescue due to a change in his families circumstances.

Ruger is a brilliant working dog who sparkles when he has job or time running his heart out. Currently, he is a rising star in agility training, where his speed, focus, and eagerness to please are on full display. Watching him navigate a course is like watching poetry in motion; he is quick-witted, highly food-motivated, and finds his greatest joy in the "good boy" that follows a successful run. In the right off-leash settings, his playful and social nature comes to life, showing the world the happy, dog he is at his core.

Ruger is a sensitive soul who thrives best when he is part of a pack. He isn't a dog for a traditional 9-to-5 workday away from home; instead, he dreams of a household where the "velcro" goes both ways. He would do best with another confident dog or remote worker at home. He is crate trained but will make quite a ruckus and eventually settles. A home with a fenced yard and possibly a dog door would be his dream.

While Ruger is a powerhouse of affection, he is easily excitable and needs an experienced and calm hand to guide him. No cats or small animals please. On a leash, he is very excitable and needs work on making this a better experience for him and his human walker.

Ruger is a dog who needs an experienced Weim person - a brilliant athlete he wants to give you nothing but his  loyalty. If you are ready to show this big, silver-hearted boy that he can finally settle into a routine for you both he will adore you forever.
