All dogs adopted from Weimaraner Rescue are SPAYED or NEUTERED, current on shots, heartworm tested, and have a microchip implanted. There are NO exceptions.

If you are NOT yet pre-approved to adopt, please go to our rescue page to review the adoption process and fill out an on-line application.

If you are already approved to adopt and are interested in adopting one of these Weims, please e-mail us at MHWR Coordinator.

In order to meet a dog in person, we MUST have an application from you. We have weekly scheduled Meet-n-Greets in public locations and everyone is welcome to attend! The Meet-n-Greets allow you to see a large variety of adoptable Weimaraners and they allow us to meet you so that we can find the best match for everyone! See our Events page for more information on the Meet-n-Greet dates, times, and locations.

We will only adopt a Weimaraner to those living within the following states: Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, and Utah. If you wish to adopt a Weim from our rescue group, you will need to travel to the location of the dog - no exceptions. We mostly operate out of Denver, CO, however we have a branch in Wichita, KS.

Lastly, adopters must agree to the following:
Adopter will not allow the animal to be free to roam the streets or to transport it in the back of an open truck except within a dog crate. Must also agree to complete a mandatory eight-week obedience course with this dog as soon as possible. The animal shall not be used for medical or any experimental purposes whatsoever, shall not be kept chained or tied, and shall not be attack trained or used for fighting or breeding purposes.

If you live in the midwest or northwest, visit other Weimaraner rescue websites for dogs available in your area.

The following dogs are in immediate need of foster homes AND are available for adoption.

12/06/10 - Misty (Needs To Live With Another Dog) My name is Misty and I am a 7 year old female Weimaraner. My nickname is Goob, though I'm not sure how I earned it. I am a very sweet, loving, and cuddly Weim. I am super low maintenance and I am not bouncy or hyper. My ideal day would be to sun bathe, go for a walk, and then have a nice dinner. I would make a wonderful family Weim as I am good with other dogs, cats, and kids. I just had my blood profile done as a checkup and I am super healthy... the more birthday candles, the bigger the slice of cake, right? I really enjoy chewies and rawhides. I love hanging out and also love to lay on my dog bed.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Misty.

10/18/2011 - Maggie (Prefers To Live Alone) is a very loyal, loving, cuddly dog that needs a new home. Maggie needs a strong human that can be her rock, shining star, and boss all in one! She has a tendency to want to rule the roost and would do best in a home with rules, boundaries, and limitations. Maggie needs her daily exercise and mind stimulation to feel her best each day. Maggie has lived with her best friend, a beagle, and loves to play in the backyard. She's always ready to meet and greet with a wiggle and big smile and also loves kids that are older. At first, Maggie may appear reserved and shy, but just needs a few moments to sniff and warm up to strangers and other children.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Maggie.

02/02/12 - Dakota is a 5 years young Weim whose family is expecting a new two legged addition and doesn't have the extra time to give Dakota the life he needs. Dakota is crate trained and great in the home. He does have the natural Weim blood in him with the counter surfing, so no food within reach of this boy! Dakota is used to running everyday with his family and would hope that he could become your best friend in the morning starting the day off right with a nice jog. Please check back as we get to learn more about Dakota.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Dakota.

12/06/10 - Duke (Needs To Live With Another Dog) My name is Duke and I am also know as Moose. I am a 4 year old male Weimaraner who is taking applications for a new family. I am a larger male and I am around 90 lbs. I might have the worlds record for the biggest Weim ears and they are velvet soft. I am very low energy. I am so low energy that I don't have a fast speed, I prefer to go for walks and I am not much of a runner. I enjoy playing with balls and hanging out. I would make the perfect family dog, first time Weim, or fit for a family that doesn't want a bouncy/hyper Weim. I am super food motivated and my favorite part of each day is when I get to eat. I love to sit for treats and I will wait patiently for my turn. I am a very easy going guy and get along very well with other dogs and would be fine with kids too. I am potty and crate trained.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Duke.

02/02/11 - Lewis is a super sweet 3 year old boy that goes on walks with dogs of all sizes. Lewis is VERY friendly and doesn't know a stranger. Other than that, he hasn't said too much (yet) to MHWR about his likes and dislikes. We'll be sure to have a good chat once he's in the Denver area and update his bio here! Please check back soon as we get to know more about Lewis.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Lewis.

02/02/11 - Marty (Needs To Live With Another Dog) I'm Marty--a spunky sweet Weim that has a zest for life. I just loooove other dogs and would do best with another dog in the house that wants to be my best buddies. I'm very affectionate and playful, but prefer you to be nearby as I get a little nervous when left alone without another dog in the house for long periods of time. If you could work from home or be around to show me the ropes and that you WILL return and bring me goodies, I'd appreciate it. I think I'd make an excellent agility dog--I can dart, turn corners, and run with the best of them. I can trace my roots back to Magellan and Houdini--just let me explain! I really love to explore the great outdoors and find new places to sniff and conquer--just like Magellan did! But I also have a touch of Houdini in me when I want to go explore by escaping any sort of confinement you might think of. If left out to my own devices, I'd score an 'A' in the art of counter surfing. Can you give me a little bit of training, patience, and love that I'll give back to you ten-fold?
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Marty.

02/02/12 - Kaysha is a 2 year old high energy gal with a great personality. Kaysha will need plenty of walks, exercise, and mind stimulation games to make her feel her best. Kaysha is skinny, but with a great diet is adding her weight back on very nicely. Please check back as we get to know more about Kaysha.

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Kaysha.

01/31/12 - River is a 1 year old suspected Weim/Pointer/GSP mix. She is a very sweet loving little girl that is just full of energy! River knows some of the basic commands such as: sit, lay down, upstairs, and outside. River loves children (though she may not know her own size!) and gets along well with other dogs. Please check back as we get to know more about River.

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt River.

The following dogs are available for adoption.

03/06/11 - Brandy (Needs To Live With Another Dog) and her pal Zoey came into rescue because her family has developed severe allergies to them.

Brandy has been described by her owner as the " quiet and strong type ". She's a true lady. Brandy is very affectionate and loves to be close to her owner. She has been sleeping on the floor next to the side of the owners bed and she is there to greet them when they wake up!

Zoey has been described by her owner as "FULL of personality!". She LOVES attention! If she sees you petting Brandy and wants in on the lovin', she will let you know. She is a VERY playful 11 year old girl with a lot of spunk left in her. She loves to be touched, petted and to know that she is safe. They think Zoey may have had it rough in the past. To this day, she whimpers a bit and is very hesitant on introductions to some adults.

Both Brandy and Zoey have been together their whole lives.

11/11:Update: Your new best friends just wanted to stop by and say hi and let you know that they are still patiently waiting for their forever home to come along!! These girls just love having people around as well as a soft comfy bed to lie around on. Don't let their age food you as they still have PLENTY of spunk and love to go on walks and run trails at the park. Their normal day-to-day activities include going outside (through the dog door) and chillin', doing a lot of snoozing, oh and don't forget some counter surfing! They are curious gals and like to just monitor the counters even if it is just for hand towels and dish scrubbers. Brandy and Zoe love people and dogs of all shapes and sizes and I know anyone who meets them will fall in love with them just as much!

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Brandy and Zoey.

05/27/11 - Tom (Prefers To Live Alone) is a 10 year old boy who was given up when his family moved. He is a very sweet, calm weim that may have a little trouble hearing. We think he would do best living as an only dog or with a female. He loves to go for walks and is good out in the yard. He is not a fence jumper! He would love to just cuddle with you if given the chance. This boy would make a really good companion for someone looking for a buddy to keep them company! Please check back as we learn more about Tom.

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Tom.

01/31/12 - Tucker H is a 9 year old handsome blue Weim that can live alone or with other dogs. Tucker is athletic; he has hiked many of Colorado's trails and has spent a lot time in the back country. He is very friendly and can get along with just about any animal or any person. He is a very passive dog. One time, the neighbor's cat was in a bad mood and tried to pick a fight with him... Tucker took three or four shots on the chin and just smiled and walked away. That's his spirit - he's got a heart as big as a mountain and sees his mission in life as loving others. Sleeping is his forte. He will often go to bed around 9pm and it takes some cajoling to get him out of bed at 8am. He likes to be walked. He's not much of a runner, but he loves to casually stroll the neighborhood and smell things. At nine years old, he is still healthy and in good shape. His perfect retirement home would include a home that has a small nook that he can call his own, owners that scratch his chest and under his chin, and will walk him around the neighborhood so that he can stretch his legs. Lastly, Tucker has a few tricks up his sleeve. You can watch this Youtube video to see the star in action.

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Tucker H.

02/02/12 - Winston (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is a a very loving and affectionate dog that has a case of Weim-ADHD. He is a very high energy dog that has a hard time sitting still (who wouldn't with an active wiggling tail?) even to be petted unless he's had plenty of exercise for the day. Winston has a start on crate training, but can work himself into a frenzy...he does try to eat his way out. His current owners have a dog run and basement access so that Winston doesn't feel confined when left. Winston loves to run! He does not know his size and would do better in a family with older kids. Winston currently lives with a lab who like to play tug of war or run throughout the house with the toys. Winston also enjoys playing with the resident cat and loves camping, trips to the lake, but could use a refresher reminder on how not to pull while out and about. Are you ready to Go-Go-Go to the next adventure with this boy?

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Odin.

Return to Available Dogs Table

01/26/12 - Odin (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is a very energetic Weim that is spunky and FULL of life! He definitely needs someone to keep up with him. Odin is obedient with vocal commands and can do lots of tricks. This boy needs a regular amount of activity to keep him happy and calm. Hikes, camping, and the great outdoors are in this Weim's genes (and he can even carry his own pack!) Odin likes playing with other dogs and will try to play with any dog! He likes to have his humans nearby and can get sad and may whine when they leave. Odin is just waiting for the perfect owners that can give him the attention and space that he is desparately seeking.

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Odin.

12/20/11 - Enzo (Can Live Alone) is a super-sweet boy that is ready for some Tender, Loving Care, in his next phase of life with plenty of food, vet care, and love. He can stand being in the crate, but lets you know he'd prefer to be a free roamer by escaping without so much a peep or scratch on him! Enzo would rather stretch and find all the good napping spots in the house. Enzo loves all dogs and is very connected to his foster humans. He is currently learning how to wait patiently and politely for a treat that is being given to him. Clean counters and high storage are a must for this boy! He is a wonderful, kind boy that needs someone who has the time for him as he likes lots of attention---he just really loves to hang out and relax with you.

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Enzo.

Return to Available Dogs Table

12/28/11 - Rudy (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is a social Weim who likes going out and about and meeting new friends, both the two legged and four legged varieties! Although shy at first, once he warms up his little Weimy tail starts wiggling and he's all yours! He just loves to run. Rudy wiggles about and around, finding it hard to stay in any one place (say for a photograph) for a great length of time. Rudy likes to be petted, cuddle and please his humans. He likes treats too! Rudy is fully house broken and isn't a recreational barker. He is great in the crate and knows how to sit and stay. Rudy plays well with dogs big and small (from a lab to a chihuahua). Rudy is not a good match for a home with kitties in it--he will not settle until he can play 'hide and go seek' and will constantly pace to 'find' the kitty. Rudy can be quiet and content once tuckered out and just loves to be wrapped up in a blanket on a couch or dog (but human is better!) bed.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Rudy.

12/28/11 - Themis is a blind, female 3 year old Weim that craves human attention. Her namesake is the Goddess of Justice (Themis) who is also blind. She can appear to be timid at first, but will wait for human interaction to tell her what the next step is. Themis really enjoys eating and will inhale food. She may run into a few walls being blind, but that doesn't stop this fun loving girl from loving life. Themis does have her normal Weim hunt instinct and would do best in a home without kitties. This girl just needs her 'Seeing Eye Human' to complete her life, do you mind showing her the ropes?

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Themis.

Return to Available Dogs Table

08/29/11 - Miles (Needs To Live With Another Dog) Miles is a gorgeous three year old male Weim with a big personality. He is definitely a velcro dog and needs to be reminded of boundaries so he doesn't fall into anxious behavior when his favorite people are not around. He is learning to play, but still doesn't understand how to play with other dogs yet. He can be shy around people he doesn't know. He does overcome this quickly if the people are patient and let him approach first, as he loves to be the center of attention. He has been around kids with no issues. Miles loves to go for runs and recalls well. We have met dogs, bikers, and runners with no issues. He is very food motivated, like most weims. Miles has learned to stay out of the kitchen. Otherwise, he will wipe your counters clean. He does well free roaming in our basement with his foster brothers and sister. We have a dog door which he uses. Chew toys and long walks are a must as this keeps the weimy energy in check and then he is a "great" dog who naps in the afternoon. He barks a little, but it is not excessive. He needs to have another canine companion, but maybe one who doesn't really care about being the center of attention as Miles can tend to be a little jealous. He is overcoming this and making great progress. We absolutely love Miles and will miss him greatly when he finds his new forever home!

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Miles.

01/24/12 - Loki is a 2.5 year young Weim that gets along great with other dogs, but would be at his best in a house without children. Loki is very shy and needs his space as he adjusts to new surroundings, noises, smells, etc. He would do well in a home where someone is around to nuture and encourage him with positive reinforcement and a place that has a more quiet environment while he comes out of his shell. Are you willing to give this guy the peace and quiet he needs so he can mind his 'Ps and Q's for you?

10/22/11 - Lucy (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is a very sweet two year old blue weim that is looking for a new home! Her owner has come upon some hard times and feels it is not fair to Lucy. She is a very smart girl and will surprise you with what she knows. She is an escape artist although she never goes far...but she can jump 4-5 ft fences and needs a very secure 6ft plus fence. She can open doors with a hinge latch and she can also open sliding glass doors. She is not a big fan of being crated either. She knows how to use the doggy door and right now is "free range" inside/outside. She loves other dogs...and loves other weims! She lived with cats but it has been about a year now since she has seen one, so we;re not sure how well she will do with them. She might chase them if they run, but don't think she would hurt them. She knows all the basic commands and does great on a leash and loves car rides. She has great recall at the dog park and hiking. We feel Lucy would do best in a home with another dog! She really is a wonderful companion and will adore you if you have the time to spend with her!

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Lucy.

11/03/11 - Winchester (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is a sweet two year old Weim who loves to play fetch and if allowed, to snuggle in bed with you. He may snore softly into your ear while snuggling due to some minor mishaps during his puppyhood with his nose. His owner said that sometimes he sounds like a pug! Winchester needs plenty of room to roam, romp, and play about. He gets excited and may need to live with older kids and he doesn't truly know his size. Winchester is crate trained and house trained. Check back soon as we get to know more about Winchester.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Winchester.

11/11/11 - Tucker (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is a happy two year old weim with lots of energy and a wagging tail. He needs his exercise every single day in order to feel his best. Tucker is house trained and knows some of his obedience commands, but like all Weims, would like to learn some more to keep his mind occupied (as long as you have a reward)! Tucker needs a reminder course in crate training, but with a yummy cookie snack and some positive words, he is starting to get the idea. Tucker does vocalize and will do his very best to let the neighborhood know that he is out and about in the car. Tucker is an amazing hunting dog. He loves couches, chairs, and beds and will give you a soft snore to let you know he's just in the perfect spot for a nice nap. Tucker does like to 'horse play' in the house with his buddies and may even earn the WWF Champion belt!
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Tucker.

02/02/12 - Xinga (Needs To Live With Another Dog) (pronounced with a Z as Zinga!) is a chocolate lab who grew up with her Weim pal. She is a boiserous young lady that enjoys running in circles, playing with her household friends (kids, cats, and Weim). Xinga does well in a kenneled environment when left but may get vocal and knows how to whine to get some extra attention once in the kennel. Xinga enjoys outdoor active life, just the same as many Weims. She likes walks and does tend to pull but also loves camping and trips to the lake for fishing. Are you ready a fantastic great outdoor adventure with this social butterfly companion?
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Xinga.

12/07/11 - Tyler (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is 1 year old young weim that needs an owner who knows how to be his benevolent leader! He is learning how to share his toys and to fit into an established pack. Tyler is the typical weim who prefers to spend most of his time around or with his humans. He would appreciate having another gal around the house to try his pick up lines on: calm, mature girls are definitely his preference! Tyler really loves to hear your encouraging voice tell him what a great job he's doing and learns quickly with praise. Tyler appreciates his space and to be able to slowly warm up to the situation... be it with other dogs, cats, or people. No apartments or close confinement quarters for this guy! Tyler's ready for his perfect place to call home, are you ready too?
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Tyler.

12/15/11 - Leo (Prefers To Live Alone) is a handsome boy who was not able to go with his family when they moved to an apartment. Leo is very affectionate and a very cheap Weim to entertain--he just needs a tennis ball to be completely happy with life. Leo likes to let you know where he is and has been described in the past as 'vocal' and he'll let you know when there is a stranger approaching. As a typical Weim, he likes to follow you around. Leo does have a head start on crate training, but will need a bone or toy to keep him busy and his mind off the crate. Leo prefers company his own size, and is not as fond with dominant smaller dogs. Please check back as we get to know more about Leo.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Leo.

01/27/11 - Puppies Sometimes we get both blue and gray puppies, male and female that can range in age from 8 weeks-12 months old. We encourage adopters to have Weim or similar breed experience for puppies.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you are interested.

The following dogs have an adoption pending and are in a two week trial with their adoptive families.

12/15/11 - Astro is a six years young Weim whose family has had some life changes. Astro is a gold medal Olympian in the long jump, high jump, and triple jump...so a 6 foot privacy fence and a yard not near a busy street is an absolute must for this boy! Given plenty of exercise, a handful of mind-tricks, and a pinch of patience, this boy is a recipe for a lifetime of love and success in his new family. Astro likes walks, runs, and plenty of attention and love. He is wonderful with kids and other dogs, but does tend to chase the furry critters in the back yard given the chance. He is crate trained and uses it as his own personal space bubble.

Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Astro.

12/07/11 - Cannon is looking for just the right forever home. He would love to be the only dog in the family and would do best with older kids or no kids. The little toddler variety make him nervous when they make those weird noises! He is crate trained but does well as a free roamer in the house. He is good with other dogs but prefers not to live with them! His family has a toddler and is now expecting another baby and he has packed his bags and is ready to go. He is a sweet boy that would love to have a walking, running or hiking partner that could spend lots of quality time with him!

12/28/11 - Ginger (Needs To Live With Another Dog) is a shy gal who enjoys the great outdoors. While shy at first encounter, it only takes a treat or two to win Ginger over. Ginger is house broken, but may need a reminder lesson once in her new home. Ginger likes being around children, and took treats gently from a six and seven year old. Please check back as we get to know more about Ginger.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Ginger.

12/28/11 - Fred is a handsome 2 year old sweet boy that was abandoned at a state lake. He is timid and can be scared at first... but given some reassurance with your voice and gentle kindness he flourishes into the most loveable Weim you could think of. Fred is very food motivated and reacts well to positive reinforcement with treats. He gets along fine with other dogs. Please check back as we get to know more about Fred.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Fred.

12/28/11 - Dugan (Can Live As An Only Dog) MHWR proudly presents a new addition to the rescue family, Dugan! Dugan ia an energetic Weim who was not getting very much attention, training, or activity that he needs to keep his young mind at ease. Dugan likes to sleep in his crate at night, and rarely barks. Dugan has done great with young children (they just need to watch out for his long, undocked tail!) and does well with older cats. Younger kittens need not apply around Dugan. He is currently on a lower calorie diet (who isn't, in the USA right now?) and a great exercise plan (doggie daycare) to get him right back into shape.
Please fill out an application through MHWR if you'd like to adopt Dugan.
